PHONEBOOKS RECYCLED IN 2010*
Nine faith communities participated including Catholic, Jewish Reformed and Jewis Orthodox, Episcopal, Unitarian, Baha'i, Sikh, Living Christ Lutheran, and Federated which collected the most books!
This means that we saved 21,000 gallons of water, 10 cubic yards of land fill, 75 average sized trees, and electricity for an average home for 18 months!
Our Flagstaff telephone books are taken to Phoenix and recycled into insulation.
Congratulations Shared Earth Network!
Shared Earth Network’s

Join faith groups in the Shared Earth Network
with our city-wide project to collect and recycle old telephone books!
The City of Flagstaff has special bins at the Norton Recycling Center on Butler
to recycle telephone books only from May 1st – July 31st.
Take books you have collected there
or contact Shared Earth Network (firstname.lastname@example.org or Tish at 606-0882)
to pick up your books.
Please remove all plastic wrapping from the books.
We suggest you assign a Recycling Coordinator for this project to stay in touch with us. Please keep track of the number of telephone books your group recycles and let us know at email@example.com or Tish at 606-0882.
We hope to recycle 5000 telephone books this year!!!!!!
When you recycle 500 telephone books, you save:
7,000 gallons of water, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space,
24 average sized trees, and enough kilowatts of electricity to power an average home for six months!
Think of the savings when we recycle thousands of telephone books!
The faith group that recycles the most telephone books will receive $100 for their earth care ministry.
